About APX

Pro-level testing.
For every athlete.

Pro teams stopped guessing years ago. They test force, speed, and movement quality, and they train against those numbers. That technology used to be locked inside elite facilities. APX brings it to your athlete. We're a sports science and performance training facility built around the VALD testing system, the same platform used by teams in the NFL, NBA, MLB, and Premier League. Every plan we build starts with measurements, not guesswork.

Meet the coach

Brandon “Sully” Sullivan.

Owner & Head Coach

Brandon Sullivan built APX Athlete Lab on a simple belief: any athlete can get faster, stronger, and harder to injure when they're coached the right way. The catch is that “the right way” isn't a guess. You have to measure it.

Sully was a four-year starter at San Diego State and part of the group that turned the Aztecs back into a winner. He anchored the 2010 team that went 9-4 and capped the season with a 35-14 Poinsettia Bowl win over Navy — the program's first bowl appearance since 1998 and its first bowl win since 1969. That year earned him a free-agent contract with the San Diego Chargers in 2011.

A neck injury ended his playing career, and he turned what he'd learned at the highest levels into a new focus: teaching young athletes to move better, train smarter, and stay healthy. Proper form, functional movement, and injury prevention are the core of how he coaches.

That's also why APX is built around real testing instead of eyeballing it. Sully uses VALD force-plate technology to measure what an athlete is actually doing: how they jump, how they land, how force moves through each leg, where they're strong and where they're leaving performance or safety on the table. Those numbers turn into a training plan, and the same numbers show whether the plan is working. An athlete can see their own progress in the data, and so can their parents. Nothing is left to “trust me.”

Sully is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and has run strength and conditioning for several high school programs, including Point Loma High School football. In his first season leading their sports performance program in spring 2022, the team went from 4-6 to 10-3 and reached the CIF San Diego Section Division 3 final as one of the best-conditioned teams in the county. That run pushed the program up to Division 2, where they made the semifinals the following season.

He coaches the whole athlete: mental, emotional, and physical. And he holds himself to the same standard he holds the data to.

If an athlete isn't progressing, the coach isn't doing his job. Brandon “Sully” Sullivan
